We cruised down the river in a large catamaran and enjoyed beautiful scenery and some wildlife sightings -- including several bald eagles.

At Haines, we boarded a bus for a short ride to a quiet lake. We got all set up in a 3-person kayak and then headed out on the glass-like water. This was our first time kayaking -- and we loved it.

With Jim powering us in front and Denise steering with her feet in the back, we cruised around the lake -- sometimes not all that gracefully, but none of us got wet.

Although we all went into stealth mode to see if we could spot a bear, no luck -- oh well! The views were spectacular, and the weather was perfect!

That night, we got back to the ship just in time for a salmon fest in the Windjammer cafe -- yum.
